Museum of Living Art - Froggy Fun
Toad Abode Activity
Are you looking for ways to help amphibians right here at home? Build a Toad Abode and create a safe habitat for amphibians, away from their predators in your own backyard! Follow these fun, easy steps:
 -
Find the spot around your yard where amphibians (especially frogs and toads) like to hang out.
Hint: Try moist areas, or under lights that attract insects at night.
- Purchase a terra cotta pot (any size will do, it just depends on how many visitors you'd like!).
- Decorate your pot — you can use earth-tone colors or bright, tropical colors.
- Place the pot upside down on the ground, and prop up one side using a rock. You've just created a safe, new home for a nearby toad.
- Wait a day or two and see if any visitors move in!
There are lots of ways you can help save amphibians. Visit the Association of Zoos and Aquariums website for more information.
