Self-Guided Backpack Tours
The Zoo is a place to learn and gain hands-on experience. Prepare your students for real-world connections. We offer pre/post Zoo curriculum designed to prepare your students for their Zoo visit and Self-guided Backpack tours. Our backpacks contain themed activities to engage students while they are in the Zoo. Make your students' Zoo connections come alive!
Registration:
Each hands-on Self-Guided Backpack contains a Zoo exhibit activity guide and materials for five students. The purchase fee is $10.00. Backpacks are available to student groups K-12, year round, Monday through Saturday. Specific information about each type of backpack is below.
To reserve a backpack for purchase, complete the student group reservation and guidelines form and check the appropriate boxes for the backpack of your choice.
Cancellations:
To cancel your registration and/or Backpack you must call at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled visit. Refunds cannot be given after this time period.

Texas WILD!
Learn about the native wildlife of Texas through a "Photography Scavenger Hunt." The Texas WILD! backpack comes with one disposable camera, one nylon backpack, scavenger hunt activities for five students and a teacher's guide.

Adaptations
Challenge your observatory skills through a "Bingo" quest to find physical and behavioral characteristics. The Adaptations backpack comes with two pairs of binoculars, one nylon backpack, Bingo quest activities for five students and a teacher's guide.

Museum of Living Art (MOLA)
Explore the world of reptiles and amphibians in our newest exhibit through classification, habitat identification and journaling. The MOLA backpack comes with five student journals, writing utensils, one nylon backpack, a MOLA activity sheet and a teacher's guide.
